Frequently Asked Questions

  • Flash, flash designs, flash tattoos, all refer to pre-drawn, ready to tattoo designs that an artist has available! Clients often choose flash when they want something original that can only be done by that artist’s hand and mind. I offer a selection of flash designs that can be found on the navigation menu under “Flash”! I include estimated pricing and proposed dimensions on each sheet - feel free to inquire with any questions!

  • Please use my booking page for the most convenient way to inquire! I also accept email and direct message inquiries on Instagram. Email chwlsea@gmail.com, or find me at @chwlsea.tattooos

  • As your artist I will need the following information:

Subject matter, placement on body, approximate size (inches), black/grey or colour, general availability, and maximum budget. Feel free to copy and paste for your inquiry or use my booking form for the most convenience!

  • All tattoos are different! Pricing is completely dependent on body placement, size, style, level of detail. The best way to find out cost is to email me directly with your idea, size, placement on the body, colour or black/grey, and reference photos for an estimate.

  • I can typically accommodate appointments requests within two-three weeks of inquiry! It depends on your availability, weekends are the most sought after appointments and fill up quickly, so don’t be afraid to book a day off work or leave early ;)

  • My artist minimum fee is $150.00 before tax! All tattoos under an hour’s time will qualify for my artist minimum - after an hour’s time, my hourly will apply. The cost is based on overhead costs such as materials, booth rental and labour.

  • One touch up session is complementary (free of charge) within the first 3 months of the tattoo healing/aging! As they are appointments that do not require deposits, no-shows and last minute rescheduling for touch up appointments result in a $90.00 charge at next appointment or touch up checkout due to studio and material fees of the missed appointment.

  • I can take on appointments Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays starting at 12pm. If you are wanting a specific day outside my usual hours, feel free to let me know as it may be possible to organize.

  • A non-refundable deposit reserves your tattoo appointment date and time, and guarantees your attendance and commitment to the appointment. When a deposit is received, it lets me know as a tattoo artist, that I can rely on you as a client. Regardless of the tattoo project size, administration tasks, research, set up/materials, and other unseen labour always occurs behind the scenes of your appointment! The deposit acts as a safety net for tattoo artists’ livelihood should a last minute cancellation or no-show occur, we will still have a minor portion of income for the appointment missed.

  • My tattoo artist’s fee is derived from the accumulation of labour, studio fees, materials, design and drawing time, as well as administration. Tattooing is extremely labour intensive and requires intense mental focus, training, and liability. What takes two hours to tattoo may have required 6+ hours of drawing time, multiple email exchanges, research, and consultation. All of this unseen labour is included in your fee the day of the appointment!

  • Your non-refundable deposit will be forfeited, or my hourly rate will begin to apply at the appointment’s intended start time and be added on to the total cost after completion of the tattoo.

  • Rescheduling with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in a loss of half the deposit from the originally scheduled appointment. An additional $75.00 will be applied at the rescheduled appointment’s checkout.

Rescheduling day the appointment will result in complete forfeiture of your non-refundable deposit.

It may not be possible to fill a last minute opening, and retaining half or all of the deposit mitigates the loss that occurs in studio and material fees. Retaining the full deposit upon the occurrence of a no-show covers a fraction of the costs of service.

While tattoo artists do understand life does tend to happen sometimes, your understanding in this is greatly appreciated!

  • Yes! You may bring one guest with you to your tattoo appointment, though it may not be possible to accommodate guests at the station during the tattoo. They may be required to remain at the lounge area at the front of the studio, as well as at all times guests are subject to be asked to leave due to disruptions levels, inappropriate behaviour, etc.

  • Please arrive at your scheduled appointment time! I will always begin at our agreed upon time, excessive early arrival will only give you a front row seat (from the waiting area) of me preparing for your appointment. Signing forms is factored into your appointment time, for those who like to be prepared :)

  • Please wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that can be rolled up and taped out of the way for the area we will be tattooing! It is possible your clothing or shoes will get stained, avoid wearing white or light coloured clothing. Refer to my guide below for my recommendations for specific body parts!
